forestry
information Hardwood Resources is dedicated to sustainable forestry practices.
The benefit to owning
the trees is that we areable to control how the forest is managed.
We embrace the following key principles:
Ecological balance:
We maintain the habitats of all-native plants and animal species.
We do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
No clear cutting:
Trees within the forest should be of various ages. Openings created by
cutting are not
to be bigger than what is necessary to meet the biological requirements
of the non-harvested trees.
Soil conservation:
Conventional forest management techniques such as clear-cutting destroy
soil organisms
that are necessary for forest health. The heavy machinery characteristic
of industrial
logging often causes soil compaction, erosion, and extensive damage to
residual vegetation.
Our cutting is conducted with light, small equipment, and road building
is minimized.
No cutting occurs on steep erosion prone slopes.
Sustained yield:
The amount of timber removed from a given area must not exceed the amount
that will grow
in the cutting interval or rotation.
Social responsibility:
Hardwood Resosurces is dedicated to the preservation of not only the
forests, but also the
people. We employ local workers, subsequently contributing to their economy.
We improve the
living conditions in the local areas and aid in social amenities such
as hospitals and schools. |
